Earlier this May I had to distinct pleasure to be invited to speak at the UXPA Boston Conference. UXPA Boston is an amazing organization, supporting the UX community here in New England and at large. I've attended for many years now, and always come away from the conference reinvigorated after connecting with old friends, meeting new people, and being immersed in the discussion around our shared discipline.
While I have presented in the past about very UX-centric topics, this year I partnered with a product leader and coach, Lisa Hagen from Ready Steady. We brainstormed a long list of topics that we felt could resonate with the audience, but the most pressing topic to us seemed to be job fatigue. We know that so many UX and design folks out there are feeling burnt out and under-valued in their jobs. We wanted to give people in that situation a sense of hope and empowerment to transform their jobs into opportunities.
It seems that our talk struck a chord with a lot of the assembled audience. We had some great questions at the end of the session, and wonderful conversations with folks that were able to pull strength from the guidance that we offered. I'll plan a follow-up post that shares more details about the ideas shared in the talk, but I wanted to get the slides out in the world as soon as I could pull this post together.
Thanks to UXPA Boston for putting on another thought-provoking conference. Thanks to Lisa for being a supportive and collaborative thought partner. If you're reading this and struggling with a challenging work situation, please reach out. I want to help and there's no reason to struggle alone.
