Some more Brushes sketches. Really, they’re becoming more like paintings. That’s particularly strange because I hate painting, and my work has never been what I’d call “painterly.” I think the tool has something to do with it, but I’m just letting it happen.

On somewhat of a whim, I purchased Brushes for my iPod. I have my iPod with me at all times, so I figured maybe it would be fun to use it as a sketch pad. Turns out, that it’s a great way to create quick and really quite painterly sketches with it as a tool. The first couple sketches are OK. Not awesome. The last one just isn’t good, but I’m including the movie of me drawing it, so you can get an idea of the process that went into it—on a normal train ride. It’s not my favorite thing to show people my sketches, but I’m really excited about this tool, so I’ll keep posting up some new ones as I finish them.
